PASTOR MIKE AND CHERYL SPLAWN
UPDATE
Though we don't grieve as those in the world who have no hope, we're very sad to announce that our precious brother and friend, Mike Splawn, has passed from this temporal life to be in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We rejoice knowing that he now abides in his eternal home.
"Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life." John 5:24
Pastor Mike and Cheryl have been serving Kern River Valley Christian Church for over 20 years. Pastor Mike was the youth pastor for 11 years and started with only 3 young people. He has now been the senior pastor for 16 years, teaching and preaching from God's word with true insight, power and authority!
The Life Verse for Kern River Valley Christian Church is Ephesians 4:16: "From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." Every saint should be activated in ministry.
They feel strongly that PASSION for God has always been 3-fold: intimacy, character, power! You must have intimacy with God, a Godly character and the power of God operating in your life with a desire to see lives transformed. You must also have a Hunger. True hunger for God is to always be growing and never stop! True hunger is that which seeks a move of God and that which has an unquenchable fire. A move of God that can't be stopped! A move of God that will not be stopped!
Pastor Mike and Cheryl have been married for 31 years. Pastor Mike was principal of Kern Christian school for 7 years and Cheryl was principal for 5 years. They have raised 3 children of their own, adopted one, and are legal guardians to another. In addition they have had 6 foster care children who have since gone home to their own families, but are still part of Mike and Cheryl's lives. They now have 3 grandchildren plus all the foster care children and their siblings that call them "Papa and Mimi."
